Palm Cove, Port Douglas is a gorgeous wedding destination in Queensland and recently voted Australia's Cleanest Beach! It's a really cute little town, full of upmarket restaurants, casual cafes, art galleries and quaint boutiques.
Palm Cove's location means beautiful tropical weather all year round with a beautiful palm tree lined beach. It's the perfect base to visit the Great Barrier Reef, Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Rainforest.
We stayed at the nearby Sea Temple, a beautiful 5-star resort and spa, which is known for it's exclusive and private resort-style apartments, Mii Spa Day Spa and direct access to the beautiful 4-Mile beach.
The jewel of the resort is the spectacular crystal clear 3,000 square metre lagoon in the middle, providing relaxing shallow areas and beautiful sun-worshipping corners.
The Sea Temple's Aqua restaurant has magnificent views over the lagoon pool for buffet breakfast, a la carte lunch and cocktails any time of day. Our dinner was gorgeous, I had a wonderful vegetarian menu with really interesting salads and a courgette-polenta roll, Mark had a beautifully cooked Australian pork. There's an extensive wine list and fun cocktail menu.
Some of the rooms have fully equipped kitchens, so you can also do self-catering. We were greeted with a gorgeous basket of mangoes, which were a gorgeous afternoon treat.

There are a range of living options within the resort complex:
- Balinese-style courtyard apartment with outdoor dining pavilion, plunge pool and garden shower.
- Exclusive, private penthouse apartments with a roof terrace, complete with roof-top spa, barbeque and dining setting
- Swimout apartments with direct access to the lagoon
- The ultra luxurious and exclusive Sea Temple Beach villas.
Our apartment was fully equipped with all the mod-cons and we absolutely LOVED the roof terrace with views over the hotel lagoon and the Palm Cove beach.
Relaxing at the Spa
After a whole day on the reef, we came back to the Mii Day Spa for a gorgeous couple's massage in the on-site luxury spa. The couple's room comes with double spa, personalised aromatherapy and ergonomic massage tables.
It was so relaxing, and the masseurs were both very talented - we both almost fell asleep. Afterwards, we lounged in the chill-out area with sorbet, tea and filtered water.
Mii offers couple's treatments, specialised bridal and honeymoon packages, treatments for men, Vichy showers, waxing and beauty and much more. All products used in the Spa contain no alcohol, lanolin, mineral oil, artificial colour or fragrance and are not tested on animals. The therapists are also highly trained and can recommend follow up products for any skin problems, organic and mineral makeup or skin products for guys.
Things to do in the area
Palm Cove has everything - it doesn't matter if you want a chilled out or action packed holiday. There's the premiere golf course, sailing, fishing, day trips out to the Great Barrier Reef or into the Daintree rainforest, and plenty more.
